About Elora Centre for the Arts

Elora is one of Canada's most beautiful villages. For many years, artists of every creative expression have gathered here to paint, compose, sing, dance, sculpt and write.

A group of local residents, many of whom are connected to the artistic community, have come together to create the Elora Centre for the Arts, an arts and cultural centre for everyone in our community and beyond.

The Elora Centre for the Arts is a focal point and driving force for imagination: exciting, expanding and encouraging all forms of creative expression.   We currently have artists studios, teaching and rehearsal classrooms, performance space, a gallery and outdoor display areas.

OUR MISSION - It is our mission to nurture the creative spirit; to build an imaginative community, encourage self-reliance, personal growth and transformation through art and make the world a more interesting place. This will be achieved by operating and promoting arts and culture at the community, regional, national and international level.

ARTS FOR EVERYONE - We are paying special attention to our youth, in particular those who have not found their niche in sports and academics, but who have strong creative energies.  Here, they will find classes, studio space, peers and mentors to support them.  We will capitalize on Elora's reputation as an artistic hub to attract top artists from around the world, to teach and lead master classes and workshops.  A broad range of programming and workshops of an international calibre is being offered, including art classes; lectures & discussions; performances and exhibitions; primary & secondary school activities; and visits from the best of the international artistic community.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS - Elora Centre for the Arts has preserved one of our community's most historic buildings, an historic stone building located on a two-acre property in the heart of the village, formerly used as the Elora Junior School. Our Centre contributes to our local economy by attracting national and international tourists; boosting retail, restaurant and accommodation businesses; and building on Elora's reputation as a beautiful tourist destination.
