School of Fine Art & Music
The School of Fine Art & Music at the University of Guelph offers an artistically challenging and intellectually stimulating environment for aspiring art historians, musicians, music scholars and artists working in various media. SOFAM hosts a number of free events open to the public throughout the year in both music and the visual arts. The Visiting Artist and Speaker Series is an opportunity to hear national and international artists speak in depth about their work with accompanying visuals, and leading critics and cultural theorists discuss current topics within the art world. Recent speakers have included writer Lawrence Weschler, and internationally renowned video artist Mark Lewis. The music program hosts the weekly Thursdays At Noon Concert Series, featuring a range of invited musicians, choral and vocal performances. Also check out performances by SOFAM’s numerous choral and orchestral ensembles. Zavitz Gallery, located in Zavitz Hall on campus, showcases the work of both undergraduate and graduate students, with a new exhibition opening every week.
