The Mississauga Handweavers and Spinners Guild hosted an informative and enjoyable day on the theme Keeping Traditions Alive! on Saturday, September 15, 2007. In addition to hearing three engaging speakers, GHS members shopped, socialized, and viewed the creative talents of sister guilds.

A great big 'Thank You' to Guild members who organized and contributed to the Guild's display, The British Isles: Keeping Traditions Alive...and Growing! Congratulations to Norma G. for winning a prize for her bobbin lace item.

Congratulations to our Guild! We were the proud recipient of three awards granted by the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners for our participation in the 50th Anniversary OHS Guild Show, Inspiration from the Closet, at the OHS Conference: Old World New Ways at Brock University, May 11-13, 2007.

The Guild won two awards for its display:

The People’s Choice Award, and an award for ‘outside the box’ thinking for our closet and moth theme. A special thank you to Donna, whose original closet and moth concepts started the whole display design ball rolling.

Guild member Melanie M. won the People’s Choice Award for Individual Item: an Atlas Moth-inspired tencel scarf in deflected double weave.
