Guelph's own orchestra is a classical ensemble, of about 35 players, including strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. The repertoire ranges from Beethoven to Bartok, and Mozart to Mendelssohn. Players include gifted amateurs and professionals from the Guelph area.

Founded in 2001 as the Guelph Chamber Orchestra, the name was changed to Guelph Symphony Orchestra in May 2003 to reflect the symphonic repertoire performed.
