For 27 years, the Festival has hosted some of the world's most engaging artists against a backdrop of rural resplendence. Each year, the Festival offers a wonderful complement of programmes. The Canada Council for the Arts has acclaimed the Elora Festival Singers as one of the finest Chamber Choirs in Canada. The Elora Festival Singers were founded by Noel Edison in 1980 as the principal vocal ensemble for the Elora Festival, the choir's activities include a popular Winter Series in Elora, Toronto and Guelph, plus touring across Canada, the United States (most recently in 2007 to Carnegie Hall in New York as part of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir), as well as recording regularly. There are 11 releases on the Naxos label alone. The Elora Festival Singer's extensive discography includes the Juno-nominated "The Mystery of Christmas", Healey Willan "In the Heavenly Kingdom" and two Arvo Pärt discs "Berliner Masse" and the critically-acclaimed "Music For Unaccompanied Choir". The Elora Festival Singers have formed the professional core of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir since 1997.
