Who was Edward Johnson?

Edward Johnson was born in Guelph in 1878 and became a world-renowned tenor. During the first half of the 20^th century he was the General Director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He founded the Edward Johnson Music Foundation in 1957 to fulfill a dream…that the citizens of Guelph, his hometown, would have the opportunity to experience live music of the highest quality and that our young people would have access to musical education.
