Dancetheatre David Earle
This is not dance for dance's sake, for an audience of dancers, for the little kingdom to which contemporary dance has been relegated. This is dance for people who are curious, who love architecture, who need beauty, who wish to feel. I am not as interested in what is considered new as I am in the discovery of what is true. My work belongs to neither the establishment nor the avante garde. This is where I believe any self respecting artist would want to be. As for being contemporary, what could be more radical in these times than expressing an appetite for existence? When birth and death and Love have lost their meaning then I'll know that my work is no longer relevant. My dancers have always been individuals, powerful and clear, and they have touched people profoundly on every continent. I honour my role as teacher, and have spent my Lifetime collaborating in the creation of dance instruments that are open, strong and honest. I would like to preserve some of my works on film or video, and to continue to create, because I care deeply about being a continuing presence in an art form that offers affirmative training, encourages uniqueness, and allows new creators to emerge.
