The Canadian Embroiderers' Guild Guelph (C.E.G.G) is a teaching guild open to anyone interested in traditional and contemporary forms of embroidery. The aims of the Guild are to build on the heritage of embroidery by refining needlework skills, to promote creativity while encouraging the interplay of ideas among members, and to extend awareness of embroidery to the community. C.E.G.G. is a participating guild of the Ontario Network of Needleworkers. (O.N.N)
The Guild meets every other Tuesday morning from September 16th to November 25th and again January 13th through April.
Members can participate in classes being offered in a wide range of hand and machine embroidery techniques taught by experienced and helpful teachers. Classes may include introductory stitchery, goldwork, surface stitchery, beadwork, smocking, colour and design, applique, whitework, bullions, machine embroidery and more! Whether you are a beginner or a skilled needleperson you are sure to find a class that catches your interest. Members can bring a brown bag lunch and stay and join us for the afternoon program where interesting speakers, mini workshops or demonstrations are held in a wide range of embroidery topics. Members also have access to the Guild library, and will receive our newsletter "Guild Gleanings", as well as receive information about any additonal workshops, field trips or juried shows that may be offered. We have an annual Open House where we display our work that is open to the public. We would love to see you there on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.
